Who was Awarded the Gold Award this Year?
Click here to find out what the 2008 Gold Award Recipients have accomplished to earn their Gold Award.

What is the Gold Award?
The Girl Scout Gold Award is a service-oriented award, pursued by girls on an individual journey who want to make a lasting difference in their community.  It’s the highest award a Girl Scout, ages 15-18 (or in grade 9-12) can earn! Any Girl Scout ages 15-18 can Go for the Gold, no matter how long they’ve been a Girl Scout or what other Awards they’ve completed.

Hmmm….Tell Me More
It takes some time to earn the Gold Award – on average 2-3 years from start to finish.  So, start the process early.

Also, if you are 14 and finishing requirements for Silver Award, you must complete the Silver Award process before starting on the Gold.

Remember that “Going for the Gold” is an individual choice!  So, even if most girls in your group want to pursue the Gold, if you don’t want to, you can opt out.

Are There Deadlines?
You have until September 30 of your graduation high school senior year to finish the Gold Award process. If you wish to be invited to this year’s Gold and Silver Award Ceremony on May 3rd, you must have completed your project, turned in all of your paperwork and had your final meeting with the Gold Award Mentor Team by March 1st.  You can of course be invited to attend next year’s ceremony if you do not make the March 1st deadline.

Tell Me More About the Project.
All Gold Award Projects must be approved through the Gold Award Mentor Team.  This process may take a month or more.

First, you’ll want to make sure all of the prerequisites are completed.

Next, complete the application and mail it to the Worcester Council Service Center:

Teen Program Specialist
Girl Scout Service Center
81 Gold Star Boulevard
Worcester, MA 01606

You will be contacted for an interview.  Be aware that it may take a month for you to be scheduled for an interview, so please be patient.

During the interview, you will meet with the Gold Award Mentor Team about your Gold Award Project idea.  If your project is approved, you will be ready to begin working on it.  An Advisor from the GA Mentor Team will be assigned to assist and monitor your progress through the project.  If your project is not approved, you will receive supportive feedback.
